Aloha from the Neeleys

Aloha Providence 6th Ward. We are doing great on our mission and feel humbled and blessed with this wonderful opportunity. Our testimonies are strengthened daily as we serve with amazing BYU Hawaii students from all over the world, 73 countries to be exact. The future of the Church is bright with these impressive young people who will be the leaders of the Church in coming decades.

Our living accommodations are very nice and comfortable. There are more than 120 senior missionaries serving in this mission as well. To hear their stories and see their examples of faith is truly inspiring.

In terms of our mission assignment, we serve in the Aloha Center on the campus. The Aloha Center is the student center. We manage a couple teams of students who man the information desk and the HUB activity center (where there is bowling, ping pong, billiards, and video games). We also assist with students living in dorms (which most students do). The dorms are called Hales (pronounced hall-ehs). And then we periodically help out at the Polynesian Cultural Center by checking people in at the luau’s. Lastly, we have been called to serve as mission coordinators for all senior missionaries serving at BYUH. This assignment involves taking some of the burden off the mission president by mentoring BYUH missionaries once their call is accepted. Reaching out to them, providing info, addressing questions and then picking them up at the airport when they arrive. Helping them get settled. And then working with the BYUH HR dept to fill their needs with current or perspective senior missionaries and reporting all of this to the mission president in a coordinating council. We’re still rookies at all of this stumbling along trying to figure it all out, but doing the best we can 🤣.

Through it all, the mission is to help all become true disciples of Jesus Christ. We see and feel His influence daily. And we bear witness of His reality and role as our Savior and Redeemer. It is humbling to wear His name on our tags where ever we go.

Mahalo for your love and support.

Sincerely,
